The general scope of
supply includes a suitable incinerator,
the design providing for the requisite
dwell time, water quench for reducing the
gas outlet temperature, wet venturi
scrubber for trapping particulate matter,
packed bed tower for gas scrubbing and
mist eliminator, eductor system and 30
meter chimney.
Incinerator:
Design |
|
The normal design of
the incinerator is a 2-chamber machine
with one primary chamber for loading the
waste and an after-burn chamber for
burning the products of combustion. An
incinerator can also be designed with a
pre-combustion chamber, where, for
instance, parts coated with paint will be
stripped of their paint and the paint
sludge, which is the actual waste, will
be loaded in the primary chamber for
burning. The incinerator design takes
into account in particular, and this is a
very important when considering different
industrial wastes, the long dwell time
that will be required to fully burn off
the gases, depending on their volume,
concentration and toxicity. Our design
envisages locating both the chambers
within the same body of the machine to
ensure control and economy providing for
creating turbulence for the gases.
A large sized door is
provided for easy loading of bulky items
directly into the large combustion
chamber. It is also possible to provide
for a chute and / or a hopper to avoid
opening the charging door when the
incinerator is on or if the waste is in a
liquid or semi-solid condition.
Primary combustion
takes place at very high temperatures
encouraging the reduction of combustible
wastes to a fine ash and the double
chamber retort design provides the long
dwell time and turbulence needed to
promote the effective after-burning of
suspended particulates and gases.
The incinerator can be
so designed as to permit disposal of
liquid and slurry wastes in the same
system with a special liquid disposal
arrangement. The burning rate could be
from 50 ltrs / hr to 250 ltrs / hr and
more, if required.
Construction: |
|
The incinerator is
constructed of welded rectangular section
frame, lined throughout with high-alumina,
castable refractory having a high
cold-crushing strength and reinforced
with stainless steel needles, in modular
block form. It is further heavily
insulated on the cold face with high
heat-resistant insulating material. This
is generally recommended for batch type
operation.
Where continuous
operation is desired, refractory bricks
of suitable thickness will be used with
insulating castable for the cold face.
The hearth can be made
of heavy duty cast fire bars or solid
refractory in the primary chamber.
Water Quench: |
|
In handling wastes of
complex configurations, it is essential
to scrub the particulates and gases so
that the final emission from the chimney
is well within the norms. As a first
step, the flue gases from the incinerator
have to be cooled from about 800°C, to
say 80°C.
The water quench is
made of suitable grade stainless steel
with a water spray. The gases are cooled
in this equipment before entering the wet
scrubber.
The size of the quench
and pump and motor capacity would
obviously depend on the volume and
velocity of flue gas coming out of the
incinerator.
Wet Venturi Scrubber: |
|
Air scrubbers perform
a critical function. They purify noxious
gaseous emissions prior to release to the
atmosphere. A scrubber's efficiency for
sub-micron particles is often a critical
consideration in the selection of a
specific type of air scrubber. Sub-micron
particles present a special concern
because these particles will cause, at
the very least, irritation of breathing
passages and more importantly, may
contain toxic compounds.
Venturi type scrubbers
are ideal for removing sub-micron
particles including: |
-
Separation of
particles from humid or corrosive
gases
-
Fine dust that
could be adhesive, combustible or
explosive
-
Combined gas and
fine particle air streams
-
Gas cooling
Standard and
adjustable throat venturi scrubbers can
be offered to suit the requirement of the
industry.
The scrubber can be
offered in steel, stainless steel
(different grades), etc., to suit the
application.
Mist Eliminator /
Packed Bed Tower: |
|
The scrubbed gases
from the wet venturi scrubber pass on to
either a mist eliminator or a combination
of mist eliminator-cum-packed bed tower.
The function of this system is to ensure
that moisture or mist is not carried to
the eductor fan and at the same time
scrub the gases once again using a packed
bed tower. Different mediums can be used.
The mist eliminator /
packed bed tower can be offered in mild
steel / SS constructions.
Automatic /
Semi-automatic Loading and Conveying
System: |
|
The loading
arrangement can be with the help of a
trolley or pneumatic loader through a
suitable chute / hopper. Conveyors may be
with rubber or steel rollers using a belt
or screw conveyor. This would depend on
the waste application and site
conditions. Bogie hearths may also be
used where waste contains large ash
content.
Flue Gas Recovery: |
|
Several flue gas
recovery systems can be offered,
depending on the waste chemistry, its
moisture content, quantum and continuous
use of the incinerator during a day.
These include steam generation, hot water
generation and re-circulation of flue gas
for preheating / removing moisture from
the waste.
