Crobor
Crobor consisting of extremely hard crystals
of chromium boride is the ultimate wear-resistant material available
for fighting abrasion, erosion and cavitation. In hardness, it
is next only to industrial diamond. Its high hardness, alloy chemistry
and needle-like structure enables even very thin overlays to fight
the severest wear conditions.
In the process of fusing Crobor, secondary Fe carbides combine
with chromium boride to form Fe borides. This gives an extra hard
and wear-resistant layer.
Applications :
Crobor has many applications in continuous process and core industries
such as Steel, Cement, Power, Mining, Sugar, Port as well as OEMs,
wherever severe abrasion, erosion and cavitation are encountered.
In particular, OEMs can benefit considerably by using Crobor on
new, wear-prone components to enhance their value and increase
their marketability.
-
Steel : Sinter fan blades, Sinter screens, Scraper blades.
-
Cement : Air separator guidevanes, Mill fan blades, FK
pump screws, Cooler vent fans.
-
Power : Coal mill ducts, guidevanes.
-
Sugar : Knives, Scrapers, Trash plates, ID fan blades.
-
Port
: Ore-handling equipment.
Procedure :
-
Grind/grit blast area to be coated and make
the area free from rust and scale.
-
Degrease, if necessary.
-
Apply Crobor paste with brush or spatula
as a thin and unformly consistent layer. If area is large, use
special 'JIG' (please refer to us) to achieve uniformity and
thickness.
-
Applied coating to be dried in air.
-
Fusing the coating:
-
Use oxy-acetylene heating process with carburising
flame for substrate thickness upto 6 mm.
-
Use carbon arc process, selecting proper
diameter carbon rod for substrates beyond 6 mm DC(-) electrode.
-
To get a smooth deposit finish, use TIG (Tungsten
Inert Gas) process.
Technical data :
Crocarb:
|
Extremely wear resistant chromium carbide in a unique paste
form. Convenient to apply to different shapes and contours.
It is a chromium carbide electrode in paste form, but can be
applied to shapes and sizes impossible with welding
electrodes.
Applications include screw conveyors, fans, wear plates,
coal handling applications, earth moving applications, etc.
Preferred method of fusing is with carbon arc process. TIG
welding can also be used.
